Inland Revenue Board of Stamps transcript 19/155 of 1753 records the apprenticeship of a Samuel Knightly to Samuel Cooke, Citizen and Musician. This was Samuel Cooke of Foster Lane, died c1764.
31st May 1766 - Goldsmiths Hall records him as moving to the Minories
21st Nov 1768 - Leathersellers Company records Samuel Waite Lloyd apprenticed to Samuel Knightley (Minories) Silversmith
So Samuel Knightly was almost certainly a Leatherseller, although it appears his master Samuel Cooke was a Musician.
30th August 1769 - Second mark at "Alhallows Barking, Seathing Lane. This is near the Tower of London
29th Sep 1769 - Leathersellers Company records Thomas Dally apprenticed to Samuel Knightley (Seething Lane) Silversmith

In PR1773 as Bucklemaker at East Smithfield - East Smithfield is east of the Tower of London
3rd Apr 1778 - Leathersellers Company records the apprenticeship of William Knightley to Samuel Knightley (Aldgate) Silversmith
Whats he doing in Aldgate ? Probably a Leathersellers error.
3rd July 1780 - Entered mark as bucklemaker at 24, East Smithfield
6th Mar 1781 - Leathersellers Company record the apprenticeship of Thomas Knightley to Samuel Knightley (East Smithfield) Silversmith

SAMUEL KNIGHTLY I am a pawnbroker in East Smithfield; the prisoner at the bar brought the six pair of buckles into my shop; I never saw him before, he said he wanted twelve shillings on the six pair of plated buckles, he did not pawn them; I stopped him and the buckles.
