Thomas Hill appears in Section VIII of Grimwade at a variety of addresses as a bucklemaker in between 1790 and 1821.

Thomas Hill may have been related to Mary Beedall, who as Mary Hill , married Samuel Beedall in 1776 .
Samuel Beedall died in 1780 and the witnesses to his will were William Yardley and a Thomas Hill.
When William Yardley married Mary Beedall that same year, a Thomas Hill acted as one of the witnesses.

A Mr Hill was a partner of Willliam Yardley at his Charing Cross shop until Christmas 1810 when the partnership was dissolved - although Mr Hill then worked as an employee.

The mark of a Thomas Hill, which appears on page 411 of Ridgway & Priestley as registering a mark in 1788-89, is identical to that seen on a pair of London marked buckles dated 1793/4. It would therefore appear that he may originally have operated from Chester, where he is recorded as assaying small items including tongs and buckles in the late 1780's .
