HIGGS, Edward (Grimwade p.545 & 389)

An Edward Higgs, son of Josiah Higgs , Codrington, Glostershire, yeoman, was apprenticed to John Dean , Fletchers' Company on 8th June 1750. This could relate to this Edward Higgs and to the silversmith John Deane, who certainly later made buckles in partnership with William Deane.

Edward Higgs was fined for substandard buckles in 1763 -1769 period.

The IGI ( the Morman created INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX ) indicates that an Edward Higgs and his wife Mary christened two children, Elizabeth in 1758 and James in 1763, both at St Leonards, Shoreditch. There is no record of a son named Edward. However St Leonards Shoreditch is the parish for Pitfield Street, so it is possible that Edward was the father rather than the brother of James . It is also possible that this Elizabeth Higgs was the Elizabeth Higgs who married Brook Walker, another silver bucklemaker.

From the long period from the apprenticeship, via the first known mark in 1763, to the last mark in 1793, this entry may cover to two Edward Higgs' .

The bequest to his "daughters Mary Thurgood and Elizabeth Walker of his house on Paul Street confirms the suggestion above that Elizabeth was the wife of Brook Walker , the silver bucklemaker viewtopic.php?f=74&t=23675
