Although Grimwade records his only mark, as a bucklemaker, as entered 12th July 1782 at 28, Little Windmill Street, William Harris had premises as a Goldsmith there earlier.

There was a question raised in Oxford Notes and Queries 5 Dec 1908 about royal warrant holders under George III
This claims that "Harris , who lived in Hatton Garden between 1780 and 1810 and was silver bucklemaker to his Majesty "
