Grimwade probably got his information about the prosecution of the William Chatterton of Christchurch from the PR1773, page 69.
He may be , but unlikely , the William Chatterton, Glover, who took two apprentices in the 1773 - 1776 period
Probably died in late 1776 as the will ( made in 1763 ) of William CHATTERTON, Silversmith of St Giles without Crtipplegate was proved at the PC on 14 January 1777. He left his entire estate to his wife Sarah.
