Re: French silver sugar tongs
This is the mark of [Gustave] Louis Lenain (LL with two “Ls” crossed), registered 22 Oct 1906 at 11 rue Meslay and again on 30 Dec 1911 at 16 rue Dupetit-Thouars. It was cancelled on 3 May 1920 when Lenain was joined by his son Louis Philippe Lenain (b. 1887) as Lenain et Fils aine, who registered a similar mark (L & Fils with the same device) on 29 Apr 1920. The company became Lenain Freres in 1929 when the father retired and Louis-Philippe was joined by his brother Louis Lenain (1901-1981), who assumed sole control of the company in 1939.
