Help identifying hallmark on spoon - Denne (I think)

Postby cfauvel » Tue Dec 28, 2021 5:04 pm

Continuing on my quest. Similar utensil (this time a spoon) as before, but different hallmark.

the marking V.D. is an ancestor I think...but I don't recall anyone with the last name that starts with D...so may actually be something that was bought by an ancestor that was already marked by an owner.

The mark is overstruck; it reads "Dehanne" above a rooster

Pierre-Joseph Dehanne

Born: 24 Aug 1751, St. Hubert, Luxembourg
Master: 21 Dec 1785, Paris
Married: Marie Elizabeth Boillerot (ca. 1754 - 5 Aug 1823)
Died: 1827

Several of his daughters married silversmiths, among them Bazile Chenaillier, Laurent Labbe, Eugene Meurant and Jean Francois Leclerc.
