France to Germany or Germany to France

Post by dartsil »

Hi all,

This one, I wonder if anyone can assist, not that it overly matters but I would just like to know.

Its marked with German marks and C.M 900, also marked with French makers mark of Charles Murat , coincidence? that the makers mark is also CM? (C flower M), also marked to other side of lip with what would appear to be 2 French Boar head marks.

My question is , is it French produced and imported into Germany or German produced and imported into France?

Hi,
I have Charles Murat vesta case with the same maker`s marks but without German crescent and crown, so, I suppose yours is also made by him and imported to Germany.

Agree that this case was made in France. The 2 crab marks are appropriate, indicating that the object has 2 parts.

Hi,
For comparison:
Art nouveau trompe l'oeil shagreen vesta case by Charles Murat with the same set of marks (except for German Reichsmark).
