Please help identify maker's mark on french silver beaker

Postby Chuck & Di » Wed Nov 15, 2006 10:13 pm

We have a ''French'' beaker on which we have already identified 2 hallmarks. The first is found on the bottom of the beaker in an octagon box and has the right profile of Michel-Ange or the ''Vieillard'' with the number ''1'' found at the bottom right, close to the mouth. The second symbol (the guarantee) is found on the side of the beaker, close to the lip. The symbol, found in a circle, is the left profile of the ''Harvest Goddess'' Cérès. There is one more symbol which we cannot identify. We believe it to be the Maker's Mark. We have included a picture of this symbol, unfortunately we aren't even sure of the direction of the photo - is it a T and a backwards C or is it an C and an I or T. We have also included a picture of the beaker. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !!!!

I can add that "C. Laurion" is Cincinnatus Lorillon, whose mark was first registered in Paris in 1814 and renewed in 1825, 1826 & 1830, and finally cancelled in January 1839.
