Napkin ring

Post by polman »

Hi,
I have a French napkin ring with Minerva and unrecognized maker mark (very small). I see letters LV or (upside down) AT ?
Who is the maker?
Thank you in advance.

Looking at the floral design of your napkin ring, and the stacked monogram, I estimate it to date no earlier than late 19thC or early 20thC. Unfortunately, the picture of the mark is too blurred to say much about the maker, and you don’t show the Minerva mark, so no saying if the object was made in Paris.
You could try the French Ministry of Culture’s website for Paris makers registered after 1878. A provincial maker will be harder to identify.

Good luck in your research!

Thank you JayT. That page is very helpful. I followed your advice and I think there are A and T letters and the bee beetwen them. So it could be Sharp Jules Alfred, 1881-1920.
What you think?
I had to upload photos again. with Minerva this time
