Christophe-Philippe Vahland was succeeded at 14 quai des Orfèvres in 1837 by François Auguste Grattepain, who registered his mark at that address on 1 Feb 1837. Vahland died on 10 Jan 1852, leaving his estate to Grattepain. Grattepain (born 7 May 1797) cancelled his mark on 30 Jun 1856. I cannot find any death date for Grattepain, nor any familial connection between Vahland and Grattepain.
Vahland's listing in the 1829 almanac notes that he was a supplier to the Prince of Waldeck & Pyrmont - at the time Prince George II (1789-1845) – and (translation mine) “maker of all kinds of silverware in the most modern taste, tumblers at the best prices, and will buy old silver”.
