Please help me identify silversmith of the cruet.

Thanks for showing clear, clean marks.

Your cruet was made in Paris between 1798-1809 by Jean-Baptiste-Lazare Clérin, who worked at 14, Quai de la Mégisserie. His symbol was a steer with an acorn below (un boeuf avec un gland dessous). Clérin registered this mark on 27 May 1789. He was active until at least 1806. See Arminjon, v. 1, no. 00510, p. 88.

Clérin, son of a silversmith, also worked in pre-revolutionary times at 39, rue St-Germain l'Auxerrois. His mark: initials JLC, with a symbol of a sheep (un mouton). See Nocq, v. 1, p. 276.

Jean-Baptiste-Lazare Clérin, born 13 Sep 1753, master 27 May 1789, died 24 April 1826. Although I cannot find his marriage record, his wife was Marie Jeanne Sophie Picandot as stated in the marriage records of several of their children: Jean Baptiste Antoine, Jean Marie, Marie Suzanne and Marie Sophie.
