French soup ladle

At Pentecost, I bought it on a Brocante market.
I having trouble finding this Maker's Mark: Rabbit? between E S
Length of ± 36 cm and a weight of 261 grams.

Hello Dendriet

Your attractive soup ladle in the filetpattern is made of 950 standard silver. The maker is Etienne-Henri Sanoner working in Paris at 79, rue Quincampoix from 10 January 1852 - 4 Septembre 1868. Yes, his symbol is a rabbit passant.

P.S. The rabbit rang a bell. Ernest Compère was the successor of Sanoner, working at the same address from 4 September 1868 - 9 October 1888 when his widow took over the business. In turn Sanoner had been the successor to Laurent Labbé (1829-1852). All three makers used the rabbit as their symbol. See David Allan, p. 301.
