French maker DL

Post by Ubaranda »

Hi all!
I suppose that in this case Odiot is the seller and DL is the maker. Maybe anybody knows who is DL?
Thanks in advance.

Was Dominique Laporte's hallmark discontinued after 1853? ::: I have a knife with the blade marked "ODIOT" and Dominique Laporte's Maker's Mark and a bigorne hallmark, but there is an additional hallmark of "French- Made For Export" which apparently did not appear until 1878 (according to the chart). ::: I don't understand the additional export hallmark if Dominique Laporte's hallmark was discontinued after 1853?

It has a large crown that looks like its for a "Prince- Not Of Royal Blood" and there is an intricate cypher-style monogram underneath the crown. ::: Handle is glided with basket-of-flowers motif. :::

Upon further research it is the Odiot Compiegne Pattern. :::
