I think it dates from around 1740 and the makers mark looks like a man holding a spear.

The "man holding a spear" hallmark could be the silversmith Jean Pick (became master silversmith in 1702) - see #1075, page 374 in Jacques Helft's 1985 reference book titled "Le poincon des provinces Francaises".
