Hello I have this lovely little snuff/pill box found here in France looking rather black so purchased it and gave it a polish to discover a little mark on the rim. I am however unable to read it picture it etc as it is so small. So is this design typical of any silversmith in particular and is anyone able to date it approximately please.

After reading another post on this site about there is nearly always more than one stamp I decided to have yet another look and sure enough there was another, but.... I cannot read this either. Taking it out into the sunshine this evening, I think but not sure the one pictured looks to have a crown in the top left corner.

Hello,
The mark is the figure of a boar's head, which was in use for Paris since 1838 and remained in use till 1961. The punch guarantees a silver fineness of .800 and was stamped on small articles.
