French Chatelaine marks

Postby Patti » Tue Nov 22, 2011 5:46 am

I have a single chain French Chatelaine. I have identified one of the 3 marks on the website (between 1810 and 1838) but would be grateful for the marks at the top and bottom.

Hello,
The bottom mark is the guarantee mark for French Provinces during the period 1819-1838 (15 = Department Charente, City of Angoulême). Angoulême is located in the South-West of France.
The top mark is the maker's mark (which is unknown to me).

Kind regards,

Thank you very much for your reply. It was purchased at an antique market in Brittany and I use it for late 18thC living history. Your reply is most appreciated.

Kind regards

Patti
