Pill box made by DERIOT ?

Postby Alain » Sat Mar 08, 2008 7:47 pm

This pill box has the Minerva 950% Hallmark on the box and the lid. What my camera can't take a clear shot of ,is
the small diamond , where i can see "DERIOT", aldo not sure about the first letter D.
On top of "DERIOT" is an eagle.
Can you give me more information about the maker?
I Googeld for this name and it's variations, but i couldn't find anything .
Thanks for helping me out!!!
I never thought that i got hooked to this little hallmarks!
It all started a few months ago, when my mother gave me two small beakers and a servettete holder, given to her 49 years ago when i was born...

Deriot appears to have worked in Sarreguemines, France.
Not sure when exactly, late 19th century, possibly into the 20th century.
Hope someone else can provide you with more information.

Pat, do you think i should replace the little mirror inside?
It has a crack all over the lenght.
I don't have the intension to sell it, no , it will stay in my display cabinet for my wife and myself to look at.

Have a nice day, and again ,thanks for sharing all your knowledge, time after time!!!

You're welcome Alain, glad I could help.

I prefer to leave pieces I acquire in their present condition.
I would not replace the mirror, but that's entirely up to you.

There is acrylic ( plastic ) mirror you can buy.
Might be easier to work with if you do replace it.

Pat.
