Silver ladle 1819-1838

Postby jok23 » Sun Feb 10, 2008 8:34 am

I have this fiddle and thread pattern ladle with the standard marks for Paris 1819-38. I was wondering who the maker might be. The mark is an arrow between what appear to be the letters P and D, all within a lozenge .

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I do not see in the maker's mark the same things you described. Instead of an arrow could it be an N letter with kind of a flower above?
In that case maker would be François-Dominique Naudin, silversmith in Paris, 6 Place Dauphine, from 1824 to 1834. His mark was the letters P.D.N. with a 'giroflée' flower (dont know the english translation) above.
Hope this helps.
