William de Hart Silversmith

Post by AME »

Greetings. Does anyone have additional information regarding the work of William de Hart? I understand he worked in Massachussets and Albuquerque, NM and was at some point a silverware designer at Towne. There is very little else about him on the internet. Does anyone have additional info such as dates, resume, etc. He appears to be a very accomplished silversmith and modernist jewelry maker. Thank you in advance.

William de Hart was a graduate of universities of New Mexico and Iowa. He studied jewelry in the Crafts Student League at New York.

He was noted as a member of the New York Society of Craftsmen in 1942 and 1948. His jewelry was exhibited at the annual report of that society at the Barbizon-Plaza in March 1942. His work was displayed alongside that of Walter Rhodes, Adda Husted-Andersen, Lilan Bangert, Rupert Carr, and Walter Salmon.
