Thingamajig or whatchamacallit?

Post by Traintime »

Not one of those cheap modern stainless steel ones available these days, but decent silverplate from Windsor Plaque of Chile. Typical of those used in places like night clubs in the '50's. What do we call this? A menu-card holder, a reserved-table stand, or a combination name? Table 32, your pork is ready.

Hi Traintime,

Great find. I would call it a menu-holder.

I've never knowingly seen the mark before, but it's interesting to note the use of a shield device, so popular with South American silversmiths.

See: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 38&t=35433

Any chance of a close-up of the mark?
