S. Blanckensee and Son, Limited.—Directors : S. P. Blanckensee (Chairman and Managing Director), A. Blanckensee, H. H. Blanckensee and W. Davis (also Secretary). Office: 15, Frederick Street, Birmingham. — The company was registered March 31, 1887, to take over the business of the firm of the same name, wholesale manufacturing goldsmiths, silversmiths and jewellers, of London and Birmingham. In 1902 the then existing £10 shares were subdivided into denominations of £1, and in 1904 50,000 preference shares were created and issued, and the authorised capital is now £140,000 in £1 shares, £90,000 being ordinary and £50,000 6 per cent. cumulative preference, with priority also as to capital and to any arrears of dividend, and £14,945 preference and £57,260 ordinary have been issued and called up. There is a mortgage of £1,500.

The accounts are made up annually to January 31, and submitted in May. For 1905-6 10 per cent. was paid on the ordinary shares ; for 1906-7, 7½ for 1907-8, 6; for each of the six years to 1913-14, 5; and for 1914-15 only the preference dividend was paid. Reserve funds, £32,000; carried forward, £4,366, against £7,650 brought down. The preference dividend is paid half-yearly on February and August 1, Voting power, one vote for each share. Director’s qualification, 200 shares. Transfer form, common ; fee, 2s. 6d. Telegraphic addresses—Bee, Birmingham ; Blanckensee, London. The business of manufacturing silversmith carried on for many years by Mr. George Nathan under the style of Nathan & Hayes, has, from March 5th, been acquired by the well-known firm of S. Blanckensee & Son, Ltd. Mr. Nathan, who is retiring into private life, will for a few months remain with Messrs. Blanckensee, and give special orders his personal attention.
