Irish Silversmith

Postby lazarus » Mon Apr 25, 2011 8:20 am

I wonder if anyone could furnish me any information, photos, trade flyers and such on an Irish Silversmith company called JOHN SMYTH & SONS OF WICKLOW ST DUBLIN my Grandfather started his apprenticeship there in 1889, he eventually moved to Birmingham round about the turn of the Century then on to Sheffield. I worked in the Cutlery industry for fifty years finally completeing my last ten years at David Mellors doing all his sterling silver orders.

Hi Lazarus,

Welcome to the Forum.

Here's an advertisement for John Smyth & Sons from 1904.

Any information that you have regarding your grandfather's career would be of great interest to us, as will details of your own working life. Do you have any photos, examples of work, paperwork etc. that you can share with us.

Regards Trev.
