MARIA V. SEMENOVA

Postby Qrt.S » Fri Oct 08, 2010 6:22 am

MARIA V. SEMENOVA
She owned a silverware factory from 1896-1917 in Moscow in Presenscaya district on B. Tishinsky lane. It was founder by her father Vasilij Semenov in 1852. He was another known silver smith from Moscow (marked BC). The factory had about 100 workers in 1905. In addition to the showed mark, "MC" as quite ordinary sans serif MC in oval cartouce. She also used to mark СЕМЕНОВА or MСЕМЕНОВА in rectangular cartouche.

(What I stated can partly but not all be read in the Russian text above. I gather that some of the readers are possibly unfamiliar with the Russian language.)

Actually her name should be transliterated Semyonova in English, but that is no big deal.
