I'm trying to find out more about this family crest which is engraved on a set of candle sticks from Sheffield 1779. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi, Top left: On gules (red), three mulberry leaves in argent / silver: Cogan, Feudal barony of Bampton (Devon) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feudal_barony_of_Bampton On the right: Tinctures (colors) engraved: straight lines for azure and dotted lozenges for gold.Fielding family Take a look here: http://armorial.library.utoronto.ca/stamps/FIE001_s1 Btw: Montague family lozenges are red and the background is argent (silver). Regards
Lovely candlesticks. On the viewer's left the quartered arms of COGAN and BLACKBURN (Argent a fess nebuly between three mullets sable) can be seen. On the viewer's right are the arms of NANGLE (Azure, three lozenges in fess or.) A casual Google Search for Cogan and Nangle bring up Irish families. These names also change their spellings over the years. Kind regards.
