Crowned monogram on cast chamberstick

This chamber stick was in 2011 in de French silver forum, because I couldn't find the maker: "Daubree who knows more about him?" Thanks to the forum (jgl) the master is know now: AD = Alfred Daubree. He made bronzes as well. Not surprised that the chamber stick is all cast silver. Weight 400 gr. Length overall 13,5 cm. "Diameter" 10,2 cm Height 7,5 cm. It is second grade French silver (not standard 1e grade).
There is this cast crowned monogram and on the other side a bird.
Anyone has an idea who that could be?

Hello and Happy New Year! Your chamberstick shows a monogram topped by a coronet. This tells you the owner had a noble rank, but without a coat of arms it would be very difficult to determine the exact family name unless you had good provenance for this item. In my opinion the bird is part of the gothic-style decoration and does not refer to the owner of the object.

The design of a coronet shows the rank of its owner, with each country having its own traditions. In France, five spikes (3 taller, 2 shorter) each topped with a pearl indicate viscount, a lower-middle noble rank.

The field of the family crests is unknown to me. Very interesting. Lately there was a crests that intrigued me and now I am looking at my collection in a different way. It is not that I only see crests and crowned monograms now, but I have to admit it keeps me busy. In " Chinese Armorial Porcelain for the Dutch market" by dr. Jochem Kroes, there is a lot of information that goes for silverware as well. You know a (single) French book on that matter? Or is that more a library?

My knowledge is limited to the coronets on French silver. I'm away from my library for a while, but could give you some references for French armorials later. In the meantime specialists such as nobilityhouse might be able to steer you in the right direction.
