Hi, I have this stunning silver ladies box, it has a painted miniature to the centre of a ladies face, surrounded by silver and mother of pearl, it is richly gilt to the inside and was imported in 1889 could anyone give me any help who this crest may belong to, its on the inside of the lid
Thanks

Hi Mandy,

It would appear to be a Baron's coronet. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Rangk ... ig._27.svg

It depends on the title and, as you can see from the Wikipedia, a few countries used a coronet of seven pearls, even the UK. You did not mention where the box came from. There is no crest, the ornament on top of a coat of arms. There is a monogram and the initials are M T L.
