Unknown crest on silver rim 1877

Postby RobS » Mon Jun 27, 2011 12:48 pm

I have a Doulton Lambeth (London) lemonade jug made date stamped 1877 with a thick silver rim with hallmarks for EHS, also 1877. I know that this silversmith, Edward H Stockwell has been known to engrave crests on a few pieces. Mine has a crest with what appears to be a Viscount crown over a pair of interlaced fleur-de-lys. Does anyone know what this is or where I could begin to look?
Thanks,
Rob

I guess this sort of crest is very difficult to identify. I have tried our library and cannot find any books which cover such marks. I had hoped to discover some of the history of this piece but as that seems unlikely. (admin edit)

I would suggest this is perhaps not a crest image at all, but an ornate letter "V" ???
