Help with crest - raised forearm and sword

Looking for some guidance on the raised forearm with sword, or dagger crest. Item is a London made sugar bowl of 1819-20 which we presume to come from Scottish ancestor Legg of Auchinblae

I agree it looks very similar but the name has no particular meaning to me in terms of my family genealogy. Will have a go on a heraldry site and see what comes up - problem is describing the crest, they probably dont say raised forearm etc!
Must admit to being amazed at your perseverance in looking through all those little pictures, to find one that looks right. How do you have the patience? But Im glad you did - thanks.

Hi Doug,

It's a fact that many of the crests that were engraved onto silver are now known to be incorrect. However, it is important to remember that at the time they were believed to be right. When checking a modern heraldry website you are likely to come up with a totally different answer. This is why the old references are so important.

Thank you for your comments - good to be aware of the pitfalls. Found range of interesting but not matching figures from 1852 edition of Burke's Peerage. However will need some more genealogical research to see if or why an ancestor was using it.
