RH (italic) on Clasp of 1740 -56 Perhaps Richard Holder

Post by buckler »

Although Richard Holder died in 1746, his only Grimwade recorded mark was that entered 28 January 1726 after his marriage to his former master's widow Rebekah Bird . Benjamin Bird had been a prominent silver bucklemaker, several of whose apprentices also followed that trade , thus it seems likely that Richard Holder became one, originally at Benjamin's old premises
