Marks from an early pair of buckles.

IL mark does not appear to be John Lee I (Grimwade 1645) although close.
I suspect is may be another, unregistered, mark of Lee’s or that the mark in the Register is indistinct .

Very hard to tell whether this buckle was a shoe or knee buckle (it’s one of a pair) . Date undoubtedly pre 1740 but how much earlier open to doubt - so few silver buckles survive intact from this period.
Assay Mark appears to be a cut corned version of the London Lion Passant Guardant of 1720 —1740. It has a very bushy tail .
Lion Passant on one buckle of the pair, makers mark on the other.
