Letter Opener, ID Help Please!

Post by Realm »

Hi everyone!

I've tried to ID the hall marks but not having much luck so was hoping you wonderful people could help!

I believe it to be British due to the Lion in one of the hallmarks but please forgive me if I'm mistaken.

Many thanks for your reading and any help you can provide! :)

That's great.

What you are showing is the Lion Passant, used by English assay offices to indicate Sterling silver, followed by the year mark, which varied from assay office to assay office. The first mark indicates the the item was imported into Ireland.

Are there no other marks?

Thank you so much for your reply,

Unfortunately there are no other marks that I can see. On the reverse side there is the same markings, the only one that differs is the importation mark which appears to of not been stamped in completely, I'll attach a photo though. Hope this helps and thank you for anymore information.
