Postby Curious-soul » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:31 pm

Hello there!!
I'm a "NOOB" to this forum and am saying hello to all of you! I love old items/ historic items of all kinds! I came across these 4 spoons at a yard sale and would LOVE ❤️ Assistance with their markings! I am unfortunately not knowledgable on this subject old toys I could do all day but these are something new I have picked up and to me their history is what makes them wonderful! So if you could please assist me I would greatly appreciate it!!! I am only listing 3 of them 4 I don't have photos of the 4th one yet.... I will post it later and again I truly appreciate it!!!
These are very large serving or basting spoons all are 28-32" in length!

Hi welcome to the forum,
Spoon made in London 1817-1818
The X is journey-man's mark. The maker’s mark, although the first letter to be rubbed, appears to be SP for: Sydenham William Peppin, registered in July 1816, known spoon maker/seller, Leopard’s head crowned for London, date letter b for 1817-1818, and the duty mark of King George III.
The family crest 2nd image see: Elven's Heraldry by John Peter Elven;

Oel.
