Please help me identify my old perfume bottle

Postby LuciaB » Wed Feb 29, 2012 3:10 pm

Hello, have a perfume bottle in cut glass with glass stopper approx 6 inches in height. Around the top of the bottle (neck) is approximately 2 inches of hallmarked silver. I am almost crosseyed trying to see what the hallmarks are, but without success so think that this much be a very old piece. This is how it looks to me. From left to right the first two letters look like A G. Next letter looks as its in Italics - looks like an S. Not sure on the next one but it could be a lion, and last is a cats head without a crown. Apolgies for the childish details but I am not at all familiar with Silver. I bought a large box of mixed china at auction, and this was in the box. If anyone can throw light on this I would be most grateful.
Many thanks,
Lucia
