C.C.P. is Charles Clement Pilling of Sibray, Hall & Co. of Sheffield.

The company was founded by Frederick Sibray and Job Frank Hall around 1878. Their first marks were entered at Sheffield, and then at London around 1890, following the opening of London showrooms. After Sibray's death in 1891, Hall entered into partnership with Pilling. Hall retired in 1900 and the firm was continued by Pilling.

At the Jewellers' Exhibition of 1912, The Jeweller and Metalworker magazine published this report of the wares of Sibray, Hall & Co.:

The outstanding features of the goods exhibited by this firm were the originality in thr designs, the beautiful finish, and the general high class artistic taste displayed in their silverware. The firm specialise in table ware, dessert services, trophies, and shields, cups and bowls, and tea and coffee services, all of which they guarantee to produce from their own original and exclusive patterns. They will always be pleased to submit designs for any special presentation which is about to take place, and thus enable the retail trade to submit something that cannot be obtained elsewhere.

Hi All,

Herewith another example of Sibray, Hall & Co (Frederick Sibray & Job Frank Hall) Victorian silver embossed dish. Profusely chased with symbols of the Union. Embossed The Tudor Rose of England.Engraved The Thistle (leaves ) of Scotland. Hallmarked for London, year letter N for 1888,Victoria duty-mark. Weight of dish 258 grams/9.10 ounces.
Sibray died in 1891 and the company continued under Hall and Clement Charles Pilling.
