I'm stuck again with a hallmark!

I think this is London and dated it to 1881 but can't find who E.G corresponds to. Much gratitude for help as usual.

The item was assayed in London in 1881-2.

If, as seems likely, it is a piece of flatware, the makers were probably John Gilbert & Co Ltd of Birmingham, Edward Gilbert being their London representative.
