Only missing assay mark.......silver?

Postby ajones1975 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 5:17 pm

Can anyone please tell me why silver stamped with full lion, makers mark and date letter would not have assay mark?
Thanks.

Hi,

My guess would be that the assay office mark has been polished away, is the point where it should be slightly raised compared with the other marks?

Hi, thanks for reply, I have two of these and they are both stamped exactly the same - cannot make out any signs of assay mark ever being there....? They do not appear either raised or dipped where mark should be.

Hello all-

Is it William Neale Birmingham 1908? Maybe they went on a coffee break and then forgot :-)

Regards
