This small silver dish looks to be 20th century with a typical Chinese/Hong Kong design, but I can't identify a Chinese maker 'GK'. In some ways the marks look American, but of course the design would argue against that.
I would grateful if anybody could help identify the maker.
I've spoken with my contact outside of the forum. He has confirmed it was made in Delhi during the 1920s, but cannot identify the maker. He also tells me that this is in the aesthetic style, in the manner of Dr Christopher Dresser. I couldn't have been more wrong about location and style!
Definitely some new learning for me!
Thanks for your attempts to find the maker. It is very much appreciated.
I find a note of a firm of metalworkers, G. Karenjee & Sons of Aligarh, near Delhi, who were working in this period. They were noted as supplying cap badges to units of the British Army stationed near there.
