Colonial Canadian Spoon?

Postby juantotree » Mon Sep 02, 2019 7:19 am

Hi

I bought this table spoon as Canadian Colonial, unfortunately I have no reference material to confirm this. Can anybody help me to establish the country of origin and the maker?

Many Thanks
Martin

Hi Martin,

It sure is Canadian. It is the marks for Richard Kestell Oliver (Toronto, circa 1843-1860).

Cheers,
Ben

Hi,

I think the school of thought is now that his name was Richard Kestell Olver and that he was English in origin. The names, Kestell and Olver are most commonly found, I believe, in Cornwall.
