Who Is J. Wake?

Has anyone come across this maker before?:








J. Wake

In a book from 1915 I found a sentence which reads "Mat Waite was the son of a silversmith, John Wake, who wrought at his trade near upon a century ago. His father also was a worker in silver." ::: However, when I go to the actual text of the book, it seems to read "John Waite" instead of "John Wake" so this could be some sort of error in translation ::: This must be an error which occurred when translating the physical text into digital text :::

There's a long history of a Wake family in England, which is of historical interest, but no mention of a "J. Wake" have I yet found :::

I get the feeling these would be English Colonial/English Provincial rather than American, what do you think when you look at the spoons?

Thanks for your thoughts and the attempt to find the origin of these spoons.

The spoons are not mine (I wish they were!), I was just sent the images for a possible identification. To me, there is something strangely familiar about them, I guess at some point in time I've seen marks in a similar font, or........., but at the moment nothing is ringing any bells.

Hopefully another member will have some thoughts.

A year has past, so just moving the topic to the colonial section to see if there are any new thoughts as to the origin of these spoons.

I've just seen some spoons marked 'J&T Wake'. Just to add some more for research. If I can, I will post some images. After a quick look, it seems other examples have turned up in England at auction.
