Provincial dessert spoon, JL/JT?

Hi all , i have this old English pattern dessert spoon , only has a single makers mark which i think is JL or possibly JT. if anyone has an idea on the maker would be much appreciated. Thanks James

Looks more like a JS.

It actually looks a great deal like one of the marks used by Jacob Schaffer of Washington, PA - I can post an example of that mark if helpful.

Actually, I think I may have solved this one - this mark looks like a match for one shown for James Smith (fl. circa 1780 - d. 1828) of Aberdeen (see figure 6 on page 81 of "The Goldsmiths of Aberdeen, by I. E. James).

Hi Western , apologies for not replying sooner, i have been away for a few days, first chance i've had. thanks for the information, i'm always much happier when i can put a name to a mark. I will try and find myself a copy of that book. Thanks again James
