Robert Keay of Perth?

Postby bstaunto » Sat Jun 13, 2015 4:00 am

Hi team,

Just wondering if people had an opinion about these sugar tongs?

The eagle mark suggests Perth? And then I thought Robert Keay as the maker, but then this maker's mark seems a little cruder than the examples I could find of his mark. Any other candidates? Or has this makers mark been identified as his before?

Thanks in advance, Ben.

Hi Ben,

It is indeed the mark of Robert Keay. Richard W. Turner has a good match (PE 27) for this pairing on p.85 of the Illustrated Directory of Scottish Provincial Silversmiths & Their Marks.
