Colonial Pseudo Marks?

Hi,

I posted this in the mystery objects forum but have had no luck there. I am interested to know more about the marks and the use of the spoon.



I am drawing a blank everywhere I look for the S&L maker> Can anyone help?

Also, does anyone know the use of the spoon as it has a tiny lip on it - as the spoon is only 5cm long I cannot fathom what it would be required for other than salt.

Hi Notalot,

If I were to hazard a guess as to the origin of the maker's maker, I would say Canadian.

I think you are right Trev. Probably Savage and Lyman, Montreal 1851 - 1867. (see Langdon's Guide to marks on early Canadian Silver). John
