AA Mark Scottish?

Postby Francais » Sat Apr 26, 2014 4:10 pm

This is a 20cm spoon, marked AA. I know there was an AA in Scotland, but I don't think it is the same.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Maurice,

I don't think it's Scottish. The only known provincial smith, that I aware of, that used 'AA', was Alex Alexander of Elgin, but it is not his mark, and in any case he was working later than your spoon was likely made.

I would dismiss Ireland also.

Was it found in the States?

It was found in US but I don't think it is American, I can't off hand think of anyone with the right initials.
Perhaps other countries?
Maurice
