Scottish Provincial Teaspoons?

Hi again,

I've recently received these Scottish teaspoons. As you can see they are stamped with two makers' marks (the first is IG). Is one a retailer's mark? I couldn't seem to find a match for either.

Hello,
The JO mark belongs to the silversmith James Orr (Edinburgh, 1802-1831)
The IG mark belongs most probably to the silversmith John Graham II (Edinburgh, 1799-1815).

I agree the 'JO' mark is likely to be that of the Grennock silversmith James Orr, his mark has been noted in the past being struck with that of another, perhaps an indication that he was supplying other smiths further afield and 'IG' was perhaps the retailer. But, I think a more likely scenario is that 'IG' was the maker in this case. James Gordon of Aberdeen was known to have been a prolific supplier of spoons sending his work as far away as London. One thing that is clear, from the positioning of the marks, is that it was 'JO' that sent the spoon to assay.
