When I acquired this spoon it was attributed to J Clark of Greenock. There were a number of wrong attributions in the collection.

After consulting Richard Turners CD of provincial makers, I believe the mark to be J Campbell of Greenock.

Can the more knowledgeable members please give an opinion.

Hi Paul,

I think your attribution to John Campbell is correct. Campbell's mark is 'IC' whereas John Clarks is 'JC'. Clark was also working much later than Campbell and the style of your spoon, the Old English Pointed or Celtic Pointed, is more likely to be from Campbell's time, 1770's-80's, than Clark's time 1820's-50's.
