Unidentified Spoon - Maybe Canadian?

Postby dognose » Tue Apr 13, 2010 2:23 pm

Here is a spoon that has been a mystery to me for some time. I purchased it on an online auction and at that time you were able to see who the rival bidders were and they were Canadians, so I presume its origins may lay there.

It is a tablespoon in the Old English pattern, 8 1/2" (21.5cm) in length and is marked with the name of 'Booth'.

As can be seen, the engraving on the front is slighty lower than would be expected on an English example. It also bears an engraved 'H' on the back of the stem near the bowl.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to the origin of this spoon?

Hi Trev.

You are right about it being Canadian.

Hi Pat,

Many thanks for the attribution. The spoon is earlier than I thought and made by an interesting silversmith, who I must find more about.

Thanks again.
