Hello Miles,
Jackson's book pages 548-9 gives an attribution for marks used by the three Edinburgh registered makers mentioned.
William Dempster's 1742 mark is shown as a rectangle with roman capital letters and a central pellet.
William Drummond's 1760 mark is shown in something of a rounded shape (which may be due to distortion)with roman capital letters and no pellet.
William Davie is shown as having two 1740 marks, a rectangle with script letters and a rectangle with a style of lettering I can't describe but which is unlike the one on the spoon.
All in all none of these seems a likely candidate.
Regards,
Mike
