Bright Cut Spoon

Postby StewartMcI » Sat Oct 31, 2009 4:44 pm

I would greatly appreciate any help identifying the source and maker of this small bright cut spoon. I originally bought it as Scottish Provincial but am now not even certain it originates from the British Isles.

Stewart

PS And no bright spark suggest it is from East Africa in the 1950s !!!

Hi Stewart,

Please could you post a photo of the back of the spoon. I find the drop is often very useful for finding out where a spoon was made.

PS At the moment I'm leaning towards Somalia, mid-20th century :)

Hi Stewart,

Everything seems wrong with this spoon. The feathering is wrong, the crest is wrong, and the drop is not quite right.
I'll stick my neck out and say it wasn't made in Britain. That's almost 1% of the world ruled out (possibly). Good luck with the rest!

Thought this one was worth bumping to the top again.

Any thoughts?

Hi guys,

I think there was a German maker MAU, in Dresden, but the marks I've seen are different than this one, but maybe worth an investigation!

Ben
