Lace-back Rat-tail Spoon

Postby Granmaa » Tue May 12, 2009 5:19 pm

Here's a spoon which has seen better days. It's a lace-back rat-tail with (most likely) a trefid end made around the end of the 17th century. I am at the moment deprived of my reference books and need some help identifying the marks. The first looks like a T within a star. I cannot make out the second, but it might be another T.

In West Country Silver Spoons And Their Makers Timothy Kent attributes this mark to Tiverton, a town in Devon.
